October Meeting - 4 October 2008

Our October meeting was at Janelle and Goku's house again. We had a small attendance with Loopy, carznkats and wilson joining us. We met our Treasurer's newborn baby, and we even managed to plan our next meeting a whole month in advance for a change!

September Meeting - 6 September 2008

We did not have a September meeting.

Tank Crawl - 2 August 2008

Our August meeting was held on Saturday, 2 August 2008 and we went on a Tank Crawl. We started at Organism and visited the homes of Wilson, Spoon, Slightly Blue Dalmation, and Spidercles. As well as this we stopped over at Critter Kingdom for a behind-the-scenes look, courtesy of the kind people there. Thank you, Critter Kingdom! We had overpriced fish'n'chips and hotdogs for tea.

July 2008 Meeting

Our July meeting was held at Janelle and Goku's house. Four courageous souls braved ice, snow and gales to cross town for the meeting, even at the peril of becoming lost due to forgetting the address! (We are so glad you made it safely, Loopy, carznkats, wilson and Slightly Blue Dalmation!) Once inside we had a comfortable meeting around the oil heater where we discussed fish, forums, and the tank crawl plans for the August meeting.

June 2008 Meeting

Our first meeting as an affiliated club was held at the President's new house. We had an amazing turnout with thirteen people (plus children and Juju the giant gourami). We celebrated our affiliation, were updated on the happenings at the latest conference, and began brainstorming fundraising and plans for the conference we will be hosting in 2010! A tank crawl was suggested for August/September so look out for that news as tank crawls are a great opportunity to see other people's home aquarium set-ups.

May 2008 Meeting

Spoon reported on the May meeting in our forums: it was good not many people braved the cold and floods tho, wilson, slightlybluedalmation, loopy, and myself were there at carznkats's place. we all had a good look at their tanks and sat down in front of the fire had a feed and dicussed fishy topics, i was educated in the costs of running a marine tank

April 2008 Meeting

For our April meeting we were supposed to go to Taylor's Mistake and look at rock pools but your friendly writer was late to the meeting and caused everyone to have to turn around and wait for us. In the end we had a vote as to whether to go back to Taylor's Mistake, back to my place, or stay where we were. The vote was to stay where we were, so we crossed the road into Scarborough Park at the end of the Sumner Esplanade.

We had a good barbecue with way too much meat for just six people, and sat around and chatted about various things. Then it was decided we'd continue our chat over drinks at Coffee Culture, so we went and did that. Then wilson left us and the girls decided we wanted to try the beach. Well, the tide was still too high even after we stood by the edge of the beach and talked for probably another hour! Us girls had an impromptu committee meeting in the middle of our chat while the boys thought it would be more interesting to stand apart and talk cars. It was a good change to our normal meetings at people's houses.

March 2008 Meeting

Our March meeting was held at Casper's house. They were amazing hosts and we had a great meeting with lots of food. It eventually devolved into a Singstar party, however.... Thank you so much for hosting and we look forward to seeing your huge tank again!

February 2008 Meeting

Our first meeting for 2008 was held at Loopy's house. We had a good turnout of both old and new with about 9-10 people in attendance. During the meeting the letter requesting the club's affiliation with FNZAS was finally signed by our "committee". That letter is now in the mail and we will keep you updated on progress. Thank you to everyone who turned up and we hope to see even more members at the next meeting!

January 2008 Meeting

There was no January meeting to give everyone a break over the New Year.

December Meeting - 1 December 2007

Our tank crawl was a huge success. We started by taking over Organism and discussing our planned route outside the shop. Everything went very smoothly, although we did very nearly lose people before reaching the first house! We looked at many tanks including some amazing breeding setups and very nice hobby setups. It was beautiful weather for most of the day but finally the last of us ended up at Spidercles' house for a BBQ, just in time for it to rain. Many thanks to everyone who allowed us to visit them en masse and ogle their tanks and a special thanks to Spidercles and flatmates for letting us finish with the BBQ at their place. An enjoyable time was had by all!

November Meeting - 3 November 2007

The November meeting was held at the residence of carznkats. There were seven regular members present and we had a fun social evening. As promised, there were seahorses!

October Meeting - 6 October 2007

Our October meeting was held at Loopy's house and eight people attended. We had a good look at Loopy's tanks again and had a good time chatting about a lot of various things.

BBQ Fundraiser - 15 September 2007

We are pleased to announce that our first fundraiser was a great success! A huge thanks to carznkats for supplying the BBQ, transporting the table, setting up, and making excellent hot dogs. They both did the most work and were really organised for the day. Loopy made an amazing banner for the table, complete with our logo, and (eventually) brought the food for the event. Wilson looked after the funds throughout the day, made sure Animates announced our presence more than once, got the clown to make us a balloon animal in the shape of a fish whale discus, swapped $1.50 hot dogs for $4.00 ice creams at Mr Whippy, and (as usual) consumed large amounts of Pepsi. By far our stars of the day were the team of carznkats. Thanks guys!!
